Because they want to spend their money on their mortgage, food and maybe a college education for their kids. I love cars but other things takes precedence. BTW, I do have a big *** SUV and 2 Porsches but I have to make sure I have a crib to house 'em first.

we will never see gas below 2 bucks a gallon ever again,and some people are getting tired of putting it in and watching it go back out about as fast as they put it in,these people are driving smaller vehicles because its foolish to pay a lot of money to drive a large vehicle,just to prove a point,there's no point now to be made,saving fuel and money is more important than size of a vehicle,large vehicles and cheap gas prices will never meet up again,good luck.
Not everyone can afford to get a large truck..and afford the gas that it would take to run it...but ignoring the childish way you asked...you have a point..the more there is conservation..the more gas prices will increase because the demand has reduced to sustain their profits...it's also true that if everyone uses gas as if it is not going out of style....the consumption out weighs the production and again prices will rise..it's a catch 22 on how to balance it so we are in a comfortable state.

Preferred ride is in my 90 Miata. Not because it is cheap to drive and own. But because it is a blast and fast.

People are driving smaller cars because gradually, slowly and oh so surely, it's beginning to dawn on them that America's natural resources are not unlimited, as Detroit would have us believe.
